We, in Titowak theater, believe that the age of macro-exemplums and being a follower of a style is ending and use of micro-stories and a mixture of different styles and methods in performances will be helpful; therefore we give credit to a kind of collage which could help to form a new model and form, which is original and at the same time novel and exquisite.
Music also has been very crucial back bone of our theater as an exclusionary language and in our stage performances we try to focus on a central form and the other styles and methods collages around this form and the same way is applied to the instruments and the musical performance and orchestrate.
Titowak Theater, after years of experience have got to the result of using a minimalist design approach in their set designs and by utilizing this minimalism, further to creating a new space, the audience has been approached as a creative element which recreates part of the play and the set in their thought.
In a world that active participation is the paradigm of the age, we have been following the goal of reaching an engaging audience and even to put a step further to coin the term “Author Audiences” in our theatrical shows, and we do believe that theater is a matter of human experience which audiences are engaging in it and a theater should continue in their mind.
Reaching an imagery presentation and omitting redundant dialogs is another aspect of our theater, because we believe that a brilliant Image could revive for many years in audience mind and could have a bigger effect.

About Titowak
“Titowak” is a kind of bird that lives near the sea. The people who live in south of Iran believe that this bird brings good luck to them and if it happens to sit on the roof of any house, it will endow that home with a fortune.
Actually Titowak knows itself as the earth’s savior and when everybody is sleeping, it guards the earth.
A Brief History
Since its establishment in 1997 till now, we, in Titowak Theater, have been looking for a kind of theater, which further to deployment of traditional rituals of southern Iran, simultaneously combines this kind of rendition with modern theater in the form of theatrical performance.
We believe that in today’s world which is so hustle and agile and worldwide globalization is leading to elimination of micro-cultures, theater as a noble and ingenuous art could protect and preserve local traditions and also could introduce these traditions to the globe, leading to their immanence.
Therefore, we, in our theater, have been trying to utilize local traditions and rituals in a modern way into our performances hoping to preserve this cultural survival.
In the second period of our group’s activities, we had combined traditions with known and famous classical plays and dramas such as “Macbeth”, “Divine comedy” and “like water for chocolate”.
In this period, we had extended our attitude from the southern part of Iran to the East and eastern theatrical forms. Katakali, Kabuki, Buto, Tazieh… had been practiced according to performance style in our stage presentations, and even Comedia dellArte was implemented in the play “Macbeth of Zar”.
